Happy Easter!
-Remember that we celebrate the season of Easter for 50 days!
Throughout the year, we have been following the Israelites on their journey to the Promised Land. We will now be learning about life for the Israelites after finally arriving in Canaan. Through scripture and our textbooks, the students will learn about the various judges who led the Israelites and about King David and King Saul. Be sure to ask them to share these exciting stories with you!
Social Studies – Mrs. McGuire
Just before Spring Break, the 6th graders presented their mythology projects. They were awesome! It was clear that a lot of time and energy went into their work. Hopefully, they learned a lot too!
Now that we are in fourth quarter, we are going to be moving at a faster pace. There is so much more information in our textbook that I would like to cover. I have already talked to the students about being prepared for this. We have begun Unit 3, starting with the Rise of Rome. Please ask your child periodically to share some of the ancient history they are learning with you!

Mrs. Kanter
I hope that all of you had a very blessed and happy Easter and a wonderful spring break! Believe it or not, we are in the home stretch of this school year! We need to keep our focus for the forth quarter and keep working hard towards a successful school year.
We have completed the novel Sixth Grade Nickname Game by Gordon Korman. This book was a nice and simple read to have before spring break! Our next novel will be Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. This is an adventure / fantasy novel about a boy named Milo, who finds an enormous and mysterious package in his room one day. This "package" is a tollbooth with a mysterious map to a strange world. Milo then sets off on a fantastic journey in which he meets many interesting characters. This book has quite a bit of figurative language in it, which can be difficult. We will work on this to aid with comprehension. We will continue to work on our spelling and vocabulary units.
Remember to check schoolnotes.com to keep up with homework assignments. Please contact me with any questions or concerns at

Science – Mrs. Torres
We are finishing our unit on Properties and Changes of Matter with many hands-on labs. Students have been experimenting with volume, mass and density and on Friday will be observing both physical and chemical changes in lab. Next we will be studying Electricity and Magnetism. It is a fun unit and usually something few students have studied before. The evaluation for this unit will be a choice item and the paper will come home when we start the unit.
Math – Mrs. Malone
We have only one quarter left and still a lot to learn. We will be having short units to finish the year. Since Spring break we have studied Probability and have taken a test.
We are currently studying ratios and proportions. We will be moving quickly so be sure your child completes daily homework and is reviewing nightly.
