PTO Meetings
This year our PTO
officers will get together every even month for planning meetings. On
the odd months, the PTO will hold an open meeting for all to attend.
Committee Members will report at the beginning of each meeting to give
updates on various activities, events, and fundraisers. A
presentation will follow these reports.
We hope you will join our
PTO this year in helping make the connection between school and home!
Fundraising Events
Market Day
Market Day is the
original food cooperative that helps raise funds for schools by donating
a percentage of profit made directly to the school. The food from
Market Day is restaurant quality, and everything is guaranteed to your
satisfaction! Order forms are sent home through the family
folders. If you would like to join our Market Day, call the school
office at 578-2742 for an order form or go online at www.MarketDay.com
and you can order there. Mark St. Joseph School, Crescent Springs
as your location for pick-up! Thanks for your support for St.
Joe's!
Box Tops
Please turn in all box
tops from General Mills and Betty Crocker products at anytime to the
school office. Thanks for your support!
PTO Open Meeting
September 21, 2006
Board Members Present:

Amy Malone opened the meeting with a prayer.
President Elect – Laura Rohling
Laura reported on membership. All but 32
families have joined the PTO. The following classes have reached 100%
participation and will have extra recess time – K1, 1B, 3A, 3C, 6B,
6C.
Treasurer – Laurie Kanter
Laurie reported the new ending balance as of
9/21/06 to be $16,816.10. The deposit for McDonald’s was $160.80. PTO
contributed $285.00 to purchase the pedestal for the St. Joseph statue
given by last year’s 8th grade class.
Volunteer Coordinator – Amy Darpel
The PTO will serve punch and cookies at
Grandparent’s Day September 29, 2006. Thanks to everyone who has
agreed to make holiday cookies and to the Markovichs for providing
Dominos boxes to transport the cookies.
Public Relations – Trisha Gamel
The Grandparent’s Day performances will be
broadcast on the cable access.
Teacher Representative – Susan Barth
Susan Barth asked if the PTO would pay for $600
of AR quizzes for new books that have been purchased by the school
library. Amy Darpel made a motion to approve the purchase and Trisha
Gamel seconded the motion. The motion was approved. A list of all the
accelerated reader quizzes that are available at St. Joseph is on the
school’s website under LINKS.
Event Coordinator – Beth Campbell
Beth reported that she and Ms. Brown have
arranged fund raisers at local fast food restaurants on every Tuesday of
the month. On the first Tuesday McDonald’s will donate 10% of all
business from 5:00 – 8:00. On the third Tuesday Burger King will
donate 10% of all business from 5:00 – 8:00. On the second and fourth
Tuesdays the owner of Quiznos, Bob Bishop, has agreed to donate 10% all
day from any purchases made if the customer has a St. Joseph flyer with
them. He is providing the flyers. Please support these businesses that
are being so generous to our school. Remember to use gift certificates!
Beth has been busy planning the first Ladies
Night Out on Friday November 10, 2006. It will be Bunko and Beverages.
Bunko is an easy to play dice game. There will be appetizers, drinks and
Door Prizes. It was suggested that the Ladies Night Out in the spring be
a game show night.
Principal – Ms. Brown
An International Day of Peace was observed at
school on Wednesday September 20, 2006. The sixth grade made pinwheels
representing different counties that were brought up at the school Mass
as prayers for world peace were read. At noon the whole school gathered
at the flagpole to pray for peace and put the pinwheels out on the
school grounds. It was a very moving experience.
Both the faculty and students are hard at work
preparing for Grandparent’s Day on Friday September 29, 2006.
Students will be walking to "De-feet"
the heat on Friday October 20, 2006. Money raised by the walkathon will
go into the air conditioning fund for the school.
Interim reports will go out in 2 weeks for
students in grades 3-8.
Assistant Principal – Mrs. Mayberry
Mrs. Mayberry expressed thanks for the new
playground equipment purchased with proceeds from the sale of Spirit
Wear. The kids love the new balls, jump ropes, hula hoops, plastic
buckets with ropes to walk on etc.
President – Amy Malone
The teachers expressed their thanks for the
luncheon and gift certificates they received on their inservice day
prior to the start of the school year.
The first Family Bingo is Friday October 6,
2006.
Raffled 3 door prizes throughout the meeting.
